  To find the volume                        2

  • Write the formula down.  V = pi( r ) h 
  • Write the numbers from the problem underneath the letters of the formula.
  • Calculate
  • Volume problems ask for cubic ---inches etc. or simply ask for the volume.
• Example    
  •  What is the volume of a cylinder with Diameter = 14 cm.; Height = 10 is 1538.60 .  use 3.14 for pi 
  • 
  •                    2
  • V = pi( r ) h
  • V = 3.14 (7)(7)(10     one half of the diameter is the radius
  • V = 1538.60 cubic centimeters

• Example  
  • What is the volume of the box below?  It has a length of 10 inches a height of 8 inches and a width of 9 inches.  Find how many many cubic inches in the box.
